Our Vision.
To raise awareness among KC churches that the nations of the world have come to Kansas City and they are in need of the Gospel and practical help too. To see every people group adopted by a church to cultivate faith communities among them that will result in them welcoming their neighbors. To welcome our new-American neighbors through practical, hands-on services that will aid them in both adjusting to a new culture, and thriving as a people retaining their distinctive cultural diversity. So they may hear the Gospel and live the abundant life Jesus promises them.
Our Values.
The Example of Jesus as we welcome those who are fleeing from poverty, injustice, war, famine, persecution, and other causes of suffering, we do so regardless of race, color, belief, gender or religion as part of God’s plan to redeem, reconcile, and restore the world. We see, to follow Jesus by living holy, humble, and honest lives and we invite others to the same way of living.
People, including those fine folks in local ministries, refugee settlement agencies, networks, businessmen, donors and volunteers alike who will join us in God’s story by bringing peace, love and justice to our communities. We are excited to see Refuge grown into a multicultural organization and seek to understand the multiplicity of cultures among us. As we seek to change our world, we recognize that we, too, are changed by those whose lives we touch.
Partnership by seeking, facilitating, and promoting collaboration among all stakeholders, including local governments, the worldwide church, mission agencies, other NGOs, and the business community, recognizing partnership as essential to serving the most vulnerable. We believe each expression of the worldwide Church has a unique and interdependent role in bringing peace and justice to the world.
The Local Church as a primary agent of bringing God’s peace, justice, truth and love to a broken world. The integrated “word” and “deed” dimensions of God’s mandate, as evidenced through the church’s integral, or transformational, mission are necessary to bring reconciliation and restoration to God, others, and the environment.
Prayer as our priority, our greatest work, and the foundation to accomplishing our mission.
