Establish A Refugee Center
We'd like to establish a center for refugee services supporting the Kansas City area.
Create A Regional Resource Hub
We plan to create a regional resource hub, based in key churches or a network of churches, containing significant resources for this work and connecting with other hubs as well. These resources would include books, articles, and trainers who would be utilized to strengthen teams and individuals in the work of serving refugees and developing a thriving community among them.
Offer Skills Training
We hope to begin a program to teach life skills training, such as teaching language, computer, cooking, shopping, or other skills. As part of this program, we would offer mentoring and and tutoring for kids as well as adults.
Begin A Community Advocacy Group
As part of a community advocacy program, we'd begin asking employers to hire refugees, help find housing, and in general support refugee resettlement in our community by contacting local, state, and other government officials.
Host More Events
Through engaging refugees through cultural exchange events, sports, music, or other opportunities, we can build healthy relationships with our neighbors.
ESL Classes
As our new American neighbors begin seeking jobs and education, English becomes a central need of most refugees. We look forward to starting more English classes soon.
