Sheldon VazquezSheldon became a Christian at age sixteen when the importance of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ was clearly and compassionately presented to him by several high school friends. After graduating from college Sheldon joined the Navy in 1982. While on active duty he met Cindy Alster who was also in the Navy. They married in 1983 and over the years had three children: Thomas (TJ), Molly, and Jennifer. Sheldon retired from the Navy in 2002. He then served as a high school Junior ROTC instructor for fifteen years retiring from that career in 2017. After a six year battle with ovarian cancer Cindy went Home to be with the Lord on February 28, 2020.
Sheldon met Beth in 2021 through a mutual friend, Richard Casebolt. They married in November of 2022 after Beth returned to her home in Kansas City from serving as a missionary for ten years in the west African nation of Ghana. Beth and Sheldon are active in several ministries in the Kansas City area including Refuge KC. |
